#PFW Review: Balenciaga Spring 2015 Ready-To-Wear

Is it too early to call this the best collection of Paris Fashion Week? Maybe. But it surely is in reason to say that Alexander Wang’s spring 2015 Balenciaga RTW collection is memorable and extraordinary. In a departure from last year’s RTW collection, this is sexier, current, and unmistakably more feminine. I suppose it took four fashion seasons at Balenciaga for Wang to feel confident enough to really make the brand his own – and last night he did just that.

The honeycomb net overlays were an instant success and a prominent fixture within the collection. The soft pinks, camel, and lilacs were a breath of fresh air to the monochromatic looks and elevated the clothing to a more wearable disposition. Speaking of fresh, Wang brought new elements to traditional silhouettes like the trench coat, A-line, and shirt dress, while developing unique styles like a cropped jacket with large lapels and epaulettes. The jersey style mesh prints were a true exemplification of Wang’s undying love for all things sportswear.

Another highlight of Wang’s show was the guest list. His front row featured one of the most important babies in fashion – Miss North West, which created an expected internet frenzy and media buzz all within itself. Good move.
